Uniforms at Ecole Aotearoa
Discover everything you need to know about our dance uniform requirements for all classes at Ecole Aotearoa.

Why don't we have a uniform?
Pre School
At École Aotearoa, we believe ballet should be welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to every child. Rather than requiring an expensive studio uniform, we encourage dancers to wear comfortable clothing they can move freely in.
For our younger dancers, this means they can come dressed in ballet attire they already own or even their favourite tutu or princess dress on themed days! As students progress into our older classes, we recommend more traditional ballet attire to allow correct alignment and technique to be seen, but there is still flexibility in colours and styles.
By removing the pressure of purchasing a compulsory uniform, we hope to make dance more affordable for families while allowing each dancer to feel comfortable and confident in class. Our focus is on developing beautiful technique, strength, confidence, and a love of dance not on everyone wearing the same outfit.
